Dear STRIVE Prep – Lake Families of Emerging Bilingual Students,
We hope you and your loved ones are well and healthy at this time. This letter is to provide you with a few testing updates about the third quarter.
As we announced earlier, all STRIVE Prep will remain remote through at least January 18. This will help reduce disruption to planning for both teachers and families. With the exception of our center-based programs and ACCESS testing on January 22 and 29th all classes will remain remote until notified. The ACCESS test is important as it helps us know how to best support your child’s needs as emergent bilinguals , and in some cases means they can test out of their EL support.
Our first priority is the health and safety of our community, therefore this in-person exam will be voluntary/optional to best meet the needs and requests of our families and students. Please note, if you choose to opt out of this important exam students will be required to remain in the status of English language learner until they have had the opportunity to demonstrate English language proficiency. The next opportunity to do so would be next school year. (This is not available in the remote setting, students will be tested at school.
If you opt into the in person exam all health and safety measures will be enforced as follows:
- All students and staff will be required to wear masks
- Students will be distanced from one another more that 3 feet as space permits
- Individual student desk barriers will be provided where applicable
- All handled materials will be sanitized between uses
Please let us know by Thursday, January 7 if your child will be taking the exam by completing this survey.

Estimadas familias de STRIVE Prep – Lake de Bilingües Emergentes:
Esperamos que ustedes y sus seres queridos se encuentren bien y sanos. Esta carta es para darles algunos avisos sobre los exámenes del tercer trimestre.
Como lo anunciamos antes, todo STRIVE Prep seguirá trabajando a distancia hasta por lo menos el 18 de enero. Esto ayudará a reducir las alteraciones en la planificación tanto de maestros como de familias. Con la excepción de nuestros centros especiales y los exámenes ACCESS enero 22 y 29. Todas las clases seguirán remotas hasta que se notifique un cambio.
El examen ACCESS es importante porque proporciona información a las familias sobre cómo están progresando sus hijos en sus habilidades del inglés y nos ayuda a saber cómo podemos apoyar mejor las necesidades de sus hijos y, en algunos casos, significa que ya no necesitan más de nuestro apoyo en esta área.
Nuestra prioridad número uno es la salud y la seguridad de nuestra comunidad, por lo tanto, este examen, que se toma en persona, será voluntario y opcional para cumplir mejor con las necesidades y solicitudes de nuestras familias y estudiantes.
Por favor recuerden que si eligen que sus hijos no hagan este examen importante, seguirán en la categoría de estudiantes de inglés como segundo idioma hasta que tengan la oportunidad de demostrar su dominio del inglés. (Este examen no está disponible para tomarlo fuera de la escuela.) La siguiente oportunidad para hacerlo sería durante el siguiente año escolar.
Si eligen tomar el examen, seguiremos todas las medidas de salud y seguridad:
- Todos los estudiantes y el personal deberán usar cubrebocas
- Los estudiantes mantendrán una distancia entre ellos de más de 3 pies si el espacio lo permite
- Tendremos barreras individuales en los escritorios de los estudiantes donde sea posible
- Todos los materiales que usen serán sanitizados cada vez que se usen
Por favor, avísenos antes del jueves, 7 de enero, si su hijo(a) tomará el examen por esta encuesta aqui.
